"The only truly secure computer is one left in its box and connected to nothing. The moment a computer is connected to a network, the requirements for securing against unwanted intrusion multiply" - Hausman

Welcome to Information Systems Sentry

Internet usage is becoming increasingly commonplace and so are the dangers associated with using a public communications medium. New Federal regulations (HIPPA for example) require most businesses to take adequate steps to prevent unauthorized access to information stored on computers connected to the Internet. Heafty fines and possible prison time are motivating companies everywhere to begin the daunting task of securing their networks with a minimum amount of (1) cost, (2) effort and (3) difficulty.

I.S. Sentry, Inc. has responded to that demand by doing the work for our clients. Our team of security specialists have spent years protecting local area networks (LANs) from security risks. Our combined twenty-five+ (25) years of experience has resulted in a simple, 'hands-free' solution that combines ease of use, assurance of protection all at a moderate price.

Getting Started:
This website is designed to start you on the process of making a decision to protect your computers. The first step in securing a computer begins where the Internet connection enters the structure. Placing a Hardware Firewall between your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and your network is the single best way to reduce or eliminate unauthorized access.

On the right-hand side of this page you will find a Hot Topic, Dictionary, and Hot Tip. Take a moment to review them as they change periodically. This is an excellent way to get oriented with Network Security terminology.

Next, check out the Links page for I.S. Sentry's top recommendations, recent Worm and/or Virus activity, and Security Issues in the News. New to the site, and increasing daily, is the Education sheet. Here you will find a growing glossary of common security-related terminology.

Finally, once you make the decision to purchase and install a Firewall, please consider us as a source. Our product line of Hardware Firewalls are state-of-the-art and offer the highest level of security and functionality for the price.

Amit Yoran, director of the Homeland Security Department's National Cyber Security Division, noted a basic measure companies and individuals can take to combat cyber vulnerabilities and identify theft is to install a firewall between a private or business network and the public network

Scary Quote

From "Tiny, Evil Things" - Information Week 04/26/04 referring to spyware: Since Florida Cardiology handles personal medical information, the presence of spyware scared Butler. "No one knows for sure what this stuff is doing," he says. "What if one of these things is keystroke logging or captures patient information? That's an unacceptable risk."
